Question

Hello,

I would like to do an investment in my business this year and I would like to pay for part of it with vouchers I received for my birthday. Is this allowed? How can I prove to the tax authorities that I actually made this payment with the vouchers?

Thanks!

Greg

Hello back,

No, it doesn't matter. Just pay with the gift voucher. If you have a document stating that you had to pay amount X, that's fine. It doesn't matter if a smaller amount was debited from your bank account. The shop isn't going to give you your purchases for free ;)

As strange as it may sound, that's indeed correct. What happens financially should be viewed separately from the accounts of a sole proprietorship. Purchase invoices, receipts, tickets, etc. are what count. The fact that it has been paid for with vouchers really doesn't matter to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Okay, thank you! All the better.
