Receipt without vAT number

Question

Is a cash register receipt from a shop (Belgium) required to state a vAT number? It concerns an expense that I incurred myself, as a VAT-exempted person. So I cannot recover VAT, but I question whether I can use a cash register receipt without a vAT number from this shop to enter an expense. I can easily find the vAT number online myself. Thank you in advance.

Yes, in any case, that is sufficient to prove the expense. A receipt is simply a supporting document. It does not need to include a vAT number. That's only really necessary if you want to reclaim vAT.

I'm not talking here about my own vAT number, but from the shop where you made your purchase. Is a shop required to state its vAT number on a receipt?
