Mollie invoices

Question

Hi,

Mollie invoices are VAT-free… I found the next article about this:

Your company is exempted from VAT if it:

it only carries out exempt activities (e.g. socio-cultural, financial and medical activities), or

  • it is registered under the VAT exemption scheme for small businesses. In both cases, you may not charge vAT to your customers. If, in addition to exempted activities, you also carry out taxable activities, you will only have to charge vAT on those taxable activities.I am exempted from VAT (small business) and do not know how to record this.

    Can someone please help me?

    Thank you.

  • I suspect that you are in this situation, VV: https://dexxter.be/btw-exempted-een-purchases-uit-het-buitenland</

After all, Mollie operates from the Netherlands and will therefore not charge vAT when issuing a sales invoice to a "buyer" with a vAT number in other EU country. As the text in the blog indicates: it is best not to register a vAT number in your mollie account (and Bol.com, Shopify, Amazon, etc.).

Because you are VAT exempt, you must pay VAT on your invoices outside Belgium. At mollie, you can adjust this in the settings so that VAT is charged on your invoices.

Hi TM, thank you for your message... Do you mean that I should just remove my vAT number?Hello,

Did that succeed? I just sent an email to mollie because I also received an invoice without vAT. And there are so many articles here that I can't figure it out right away...

    Kind regards,

    Good morning,

No, unfortunately this did not succeed. I cannot give them an explanation of how things work. After a few emails, I gave up and decided to fill in a 629 form.Kind regards

I had the same problem when I was still a small business with vAT exemption and there are several companies in the Netherlands that did not want to accommodate this. However, they also have to follow European rules. If you have any questions about submitting the Special vAT declarations 629, please let me know.

For now, here at my place, it's only about an invoice for 2.09 euros.
Perhaps it would be better not to enter it for now? Or is it worth doing the 629 just for those 2 euros? Of course, I hope the amounts will increase (because that also means more income from mollie...

I haven't received an answer from them yet. If they do help me, I'll let you know!

    Kind regards,

Unfortunately, I have the same problem. At the end of June, I received my first invoices from mollie, for the modest amounts of €1.03, but also without vAT...

I never provided mollie with a vAT number, by the way.

Legally, you have to pay vAT on your expenses, so you are in violation if you do not paid vAT. You do not have to charge vAT to your customers, but on the other hand, you do have to paid vAT on your expenses, and you cannot deduct that.It is therefore very annoying that mollie is not sorting this out okay. Now, those special vAT declarations, once you've done them once, they're not much work. Put the amounts for which you have not paid vAT in columns in an Excel spreadsheet, amounts without vAT, amounts with vAT, add them up and then fill in the form via this uRL: https://financien.belgium.be/nl/E-services/Intervat</

Hello, I have the same problem. Mollie refuses to change this and sends me invoices with VAT reversed. I am therefore going to submit a special vAT declaration, but I have never done this before and question whether I should enter this under 'services' and what percentage of vAT should be charged on it?

You can enter this in Dexxter under 'various financial costs and bank charges'. You must charge 21% vAT. See further explanation above.
