Start date of depreciation if you started halfway through the year

Question

Hello,

I read that as a sole trader, it can be advantageous to start your depreciation on 1 January of the year, even if your purchase took place later in the year. I question whether this is also allowed if you had not started on 1 January (but, for example, only in June? The app allows it in any case…

That doesn't seem to be a problem to me... Because what would be the difference between starting on 1 January and buying later in the year and still writing off from 1 January? That seems just as 'fictitious' to me as starting on 1 March, buying later in the year and still writing off from 1 January.

I understand that it adds an extra dimension, but in both cases it's still 'fictitious' :)
