Dear Sir/Madam,
I have an invoice from a Spanish company with a vAT number starting with X.
I cannot enter this because the system automatically enters ES for ‘Spain’. How can I get around this problem and still enter the invoice correctly?

You can check Spanish (or other European) vAT numbers on VIES: https://europa.eu/youreurope/business/taxation/vat/check-vat-number-vies/index_nl.htm. If the number starting with an X is not recognised there, try the same number without the X.
You really should try it out for yourself. Even if you don’t have a company number yet, you can already go ahead.
