Booking transaction costs on sales

Question

The transaction costs that Shopify and PayPal, for example, deduct from a sale/income: do you preferably record these separately as a cost, or do you deduct the transaction costs when entering the income?

Note: I am VAT-exempted, so perhaps it is preferable to deduct the transaction costs from the income in order to keep the turnover low (every little helps…)?

And that's exactly why you shouldn't do this ;)

You should indeed record it as an expense. Otherwise, as you rightly point out, it will unlawfully reduce your turnover. And especially because you have that ceiling as an exempted person, you need to be careful with this.

Under which cost category do we place the Shopify invoice?
