How thoroughly does the tax office check invoices?

Question

Hello everyone,

I already had a mobile phone when I started my sole proprietor. My son is now getting a smartphone for his spring celebration. I would possibly register it as a mobile phone for my business, as I have not yet purchased one from the name of my business. But how thoroughly does the tax office check the invoices? For example, will they check which mobile phone I bought and which one I use? Or will this invoice simply be accepted because it is logical for a new business to buy a mobile phone?

Thank you!

Dear Sir/Madam, if I were in your position, I would include that invoice in my accounts! I always did that (I have been self-employed for 40 years). Regarding your question about 'audits, tax authorities, etc.' - First and foremost, NOT everyone is audited! PLUS - the golden rule has always been, 'make sure it looks right!' - by which I mean, if you pay your share of taxes perfectly, they will usually leave you alone - on the other hand, people who consistently have more expenses than income, that can't go on forever, and above all, IT STANDS OUT! SO - don't put 3 mobile phones per year in your accounts! I think you acknowledge my explanation - otherwise,.. let me know. Regards, Patrick
