Dexxter won the FinTech Award 2023 on Thursday 25 May! The price was presented by HR services group Liantis and goes to a promising young start-up in the fintech sector. Stan De Pauw, Robbe Claessens and Giel Thomas developed a platform that keeps accounting clear and affordable for entrepreneurs with sole proprietors.
Elected by jury and public
This year, Liantis organised the FinTech Award for the first time. This awards a start-up (maximum 5 years old) that is the most promising in the field of financial technology. Both an expert jury and the public were able to put forward candidates.
The jury, consisting of Brecht Valcke (CEO Bothive), Gert Gijbels (CEO Netwerk Ondernemen), Jean-Louis Van Houwe (CEO Monizze), Patricia Boydens (senior Business Development Director Capgemini), Stephanie Depuydt (product management lead In the Pocket) and Lotta de Meulenaere (chief marketing officer Bancontact Payconiq) compiled a shortlist of 3 nominees based on this: Dexxter, OkiOki and Bizzcontrol. After a vote by the jury (60%) and an online vote by the general public (40%), the winner was announced on Thursday evening 25 May during an award ceremony at the Hi!-Site in Grimbergen.

Dexxter, for small business owners and accountants
In the end, Dexxter snatched the top prize. Ex-student-entrepreneurs Robbe Claessens and Stan De Pauw saw that students often hesitated to take the step into entrepreneurship because they were afraid of the administration and the costs. Ex-accountant Giel Thomas, in turn, saw that a lot of small self-employed people had difficulty finding an accountant. So together they developed Dexxter, a web application that allows sole proprietors to take charge of their own bookkeeping. They also work together with accountants. They are happy to refer sole proprietors to Dexxter and welcome entrepreneurs back when their business has evolved further.
‘We are extremely happy with this award. Three years ago we were students and now this…. Unbelievable!’, responds Stan De Pauw from Dexxter. ‘Our mission remains to encourage entrepreneurship.’
First edition
It was the first time Liantis presented the FinTech Award, but managing director Philip Van Eeckhoute looks back with satisfaction. ‘With Liantis, we also have a uRL with fintech. Not only are 270 people in our organisation itself enabled to permanently develop and improve applications for self-employed entrepreneurs and employers. We are also alert every day for fintech players who may be able to work with us to add value to our customers. Our event was the perfect moment to put the sector in the spotlight. Moreover, we are convinced that Dexxter, but also the other nominees, will inspire others to also develop innovative entrepreneurial ideas,’ Van Eeckhoute concludes.
