SOLAR PANELS AND HOME BATTERY

Vraag

Hi, as a secondary occupation with an office in my private home, I already spend 20 per cent on energy every month.
Now I have installed a home battery and 16 solar panels to reduce those costs.
1. Can I also count this as an expense and how do I do that?
2. I have read that this cannot be considered an investment as it is not exclusively for pro purposes.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

Sven

In principle, the solar panels and your home battery are linked to your private home (there is also a link to the EAN number of your electricity meter). I don't know what percentage of professional use you declare (usually it is 20%, but if you use installations that require a lot of power, it can be quite a bit higher). It is therefore best to enter the purchases of solar panels, hybrid inverter and home battery with the same professional percentage, just like the income from the injection (at times when your solar panels produce more than you are currently using). If your energy supplier's invoices do not mention your vAT number, you are a private person and pay 6% vAT on the purchases of electricity. If your vAT number is mentioned, you are a business customer and pay 21% vAT. On the other hand, there are differences in consumption rates between private persons and business customers from energy suppliers. The levies also differ between private person and business customers. If you are only now installing solar panels, you will also have a digital meter. It is best to activate the P1 port on your digital meter via mijn.fluvius.be. You can then connect a P1 meter to it to monitor your yield per quarter of an hour and overlap it with the yield from your solar panels (via your hybrid inverter or the accompanying app) and try to increase consumption at those times, recharge your battery when your maximum consumption is less than the yield and inject the surplus. If possible, it is best to optimise your consumption by making maximum use of smart devices (or smart plugs and switches that communicate with your hybrid inverter's app). If possible, you should also try to inject from your battery during the morning and evening peaks (roughly between 7.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. and between 5 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.). If you have a good energy supplier and a dynamic contract, you will receive the highest injection fee at those times.
