I have a vending machine that I check every week. And, of course, I also want to test it. Testing is not possible without paying. How do I recover this cost? Do I write myself an invoice and submit it, or is that not possible? Or can I not claim this cost or record it as a business expense?

I don't think you can create an invoice to yourself, but you could claim this cost under the cost category 'other services', for example, and you could substantiate this with a proof of payment that you may have? I don't know if you can have/obtain this? In any case, you have a legitimate explanation for it in case of an audit.
