Which expenses category is a computer monitor?

Question

I have a bad habit of putting everything under “Software & computing costs”, but can I only put software costs under this category and not hardware costs? Does IT only refer to software packages or everything that goes with it (hardware)?

This is also the category recommended for terms such as “computer”.

Those cost categories don't really matter, don't worry :)

As long as the type is correct, i.e. goods/services/investment.

And as long as the deductibility is correct, i.e. percentage of professional use & VAT deduction.

Otherwise, you might as well create a cost category with the name "all costs that the tax authorities must not see" and book everything there. It really doesn't matter to an auditor; type & tax deductibility is what matters to them.

But for your own accounting and summary, it is better to use the cost categories properly, of course ;)
