Not subject to VAT

Question

Sole proprietor. I work 60/40. For example, I issue an invoice for €100, not subject to VAT. I would receive €60. But the person paying it has to pay 21% vAT on it, it seems. They are now going to deduct that from my €60! Is this allowed?

Are you subject to VAT or are you exempted from VAT?

And be careful: some professions are not eligible for exemption from VAT for small businesses.

Is it correct that ‘in secondary occupation’ appears in my cost category when I enter purchase invoices from before the start of my sole proprietorship?
