Investments not visible in VAT declaration

Question

Hello everyone

This month, I will have to submit a vAT declaration for the first time (previously exempt). I made a few investments in the past quarter, but the summary for quarter 4 states “€0 (excl. VAT) in investments in the past quarter”. However, I have recorded them as investments and they are also visible under ‘depreciations’. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

That's a very valid question. It's because the administration that assesses expenses (expenses, investments, depreciations, income, personal income tax, etc.) and the vAT administration apply other rules.

For investments from costs, you look at whether something remains structural in your company or not.

For vAT administration, you have to check whether something is both an investment as it is for costs and has a purchase value of more than £1,000.

So the concept of 'investment' is different for both types of administration, hence the difference and hence why it does not appear in your vAT declaration :)

Okay, thanks for the clear explanation, I'm with you! Is it then counted under 'purchased services and small materials'? Because, of course, I want to be able to recover the vAT on those products somewhere... Since it is not possible to expand the sections further, it is difficult (for me) to figure out from where everything comes from. I also notice this in the cost report. I would find it interesting if I could also see the linked invoices under each category. Just a personal feedback point :) </

Do you already have an answer to here? I have the same question and wonder whether the vAT is recovered somewhere else?

We came back to this during a live session. The vAT is actually recovered in other category :) I can't say exactly which one right now, but at the end of the day, everything is okay.
