Expenditure invoice from the Dutch Netherlands

Question

When making an online purchase in the Netherlands, I mistakenly identified myself as a business instead of a private person (I read in the learning center that I should have done so).

Now, at the bottom of her invoice, the lady states the following sentence:

“Bicreative falls under the new KOR. As a result, you do not pay vAT on your purchases.”

Is that the same as our ‘small business exempted from VAT’ and, yes, is it okay for me to have an expense invoice with 0% VAT?

Thanks in advance!

Ann

Hello,

Giel from Dexxter here!

KOR is indeed similar to our Belgian system of vAT exemption. Since 2020, they have updated the scheme slightly and now it is more or less the same. Then it is indeed okay if you receive an invoice with 0% vAT. We would like to warn you that if a company subject to VAT charges 0% vAT (and therefore applies reverse charge vAT), you should take action.

But in this case, it is simply 0% vAT because your supplier benefits from a VAT exemption, so it is fine!

Regards, Giel

OK, thank you!
