Question

My Dexxter subscription started today. Can I book part of these costs in 2024 (for 2 months) and part in 2025 (for 10 months) on the same invoice?

Hello, fellow entrepreneur here (not an expert, mind you). If you have paid your invoice for a full year in one go, then you have incurred the full cost at a single point in time. It therefore seems logical to me to book the full cost in one go. In your case, I would do that in 2024, as that is the year that will be stated on your invoice.

This also seems to me to be a big difference between costs and depreciations: costs are relatively small expenses that you paid and entered in one go. Expenses are relatively large expenses that also last for several years (e.g. a desk, laptop, etc.). Your Dexxter subscription seems to me to be a cost.

Good luck!
