deducting expenses without income

Question

Dear Dexxter collaborator, At the end of the previous year, I started a sole proprietor as a secondary occupation. In 2021, I had no income, only expenses. Can I deduct those expenses from my personal income tax?

For your information: I am subject to VAT, but have applied for exemption.

Kind regards,

Christine

If it's the first year, I don't think that's a problem. I've always heard that you can make a loss for two years in a row and that it's not a problem, but that could be a myth or something :)

Anyway, making a loss in the first year doesn't seem to be a problem to me. And it's nice because you can deduct it from your tax return and you'll have to pay a little less (or you'll get a little more back).

No problem at all, just declare those costs! I wonder if anyone has a different opinion? :)
