Question

Dear Sir/Madam,

If you charge your customers for the shipping of their orders, can you still enter the cost of the postage stamps as a business expense?

It seems to me that it is no longer an expense, because the customers are actually paying it back.

Thank you in advance.

You just continue to claim it as an expense, don't you?

It's the same with trade goods, things you specifically purchase to then sell to customers. Of course, your customers pay you back (more than) that, but it remains an expense for your accounts.

Thank you for your answer, ND.
