Recently, some people from Sweden approached me with a request to make a video featuring our artificial bait for predatory fish. They make high-quality videos and have a wide reach. I’m wondering if it’s possible to register this collaboration, even though I haven’t received an official document for the sponsorship. Do I need to draw up a document for this collaboration myself?
Am I understanding it correctly that you are paying them for the video? If so, that is advertising/marketing costs, because they are generating publicity. You can deduct 100% of these costs.I sent them free products. But I don't have any proof from here yet. I don't really know how to record this (without proof). Should I draw up a document myself or question the other party to do so?You can also sponsor in kind (e.g. with free products), in which case it is still 100% deductible. I don't know the document myself. I think so, because you have to record it as an expense. Maybe someone else can help with that?

The bottom line is that you can create a document yourself containing: the amount, the company, what the expense was for. Clearly state sponsorship and what you received in return.

You really should try it out for yourself. Even if you don’t have a company number yet, you can already go ahead.
