Question

Dear Sir/Madam,

I purchased a tool from around €150. Of course, it is intended to last longer than a year, but given the price, I have a question: should I book this as an investment or can it be booked elsewhere? If it can be booked elsewhere, where should I put it?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards

I found the next back in the article about investments:

There is no legal requirement specifying when a purchase should be classified as an 'investment'.

A good indication of an investment is a purchase value of €250 per item, but this figure is only an indication. The tax authorities are tolerant when it comes to small purchases: a €20 hole punch that might last 10 years does not need to be considered an investment! Although you could, of course, if you wanted to. Recording a small-value purchase as an investment will never be a problem. So you can write this off, but I would rather go for the cost category 'Small purchases of all kinds (stationery, paper, keyboard, etc.)' here.

I had read the article, but I was still unsure. I will indeed put this under small purchases. Thank you!
