Are advance payments and vAT transfers the same thing?

Question

Hey everyone

As a self-employed person in secondary occupation, I made an advance payment. Now, at the end of quarter 3, I have to pay the vAT. Is the advance payment sufficient or are these two separate payments?

In other words, I have paid just over 800 euros as an advance payment. Do I also have to pay the 450 euros that I have to pay in vAT, or is the advance payment sufficient?

Kind regards,

Joris

Hello Joris,

The advance payment is for your personal income tax and the VAT payment is for VAT administration. The two are unrelated. So you will still have to pay the VAT.
