Amazon purchases from China

Question

I recently bought a few items from Amazon (small tools) with my business account (usually this goes well, and I receive a proper invoice with all the necessary details and my vAT number, and Amazon srl as the seller with an address in France), but sometimes the invoice is not available as standard. I can request it from the seller, but I usually receive a document with lots of Chinese characters, which does not even mention my own vAT number. The seller’s address is usually a Chinese address that is stated to be the seller’s address. However, 0% VAT is always charged. Can and may I enter this in my accounts (since it is not a European seller)?

You can certainly enter this as a cost in accounts. I have done this myself a few times with (tool) purchases via Amazon.

You cannot reclaim vAT because (1) it has not been charged and (2) it is not an official invoice.
However, you can enter the full amount as an expense with the document provided.

When creating the supplier, you can select 'Company outside the EU'.
