It all began with years of experience in the interior design industry. Gitte Willems worked at various companies, where she saw again and again just how important the connection is between people and their living environments. That insight grew into a conviction and eventually into a business: Studio Nief.
Studio Nief combines her love for interior design with a keen sense of what people truly need. “I want to help families turn their house into a place where everyone feels at home.” Blended families, in particular, find in Gitte someone who listens, understands, and translates their needs into a concrete plan. No quick makeovers, but well-thought-out designs. Each project culminates in a fully prepared starter package containing an analysis, floor plans, and 3D renderings. This allows clients to approach their chosen contractors right away with clear plans, enabling them to obtain concrete quotations.
“This way, we prevent people from thinking afterward, ‘If only we’d thought that through better first.’”
Entrepreneurship as a growth process
There’s a growth process not only in her entrepreneurship but also on a personal level.
She’s a mother of two young children and finds it remarkable to see how much she learns from them—about herself, the world, and parenting. She also pushes her limits at the CrossFit gym. “When I challenge myself physically, I can grow mentally as well.”
A new me
By breaking personal records in CrossFit and building her self-confidence as a starting entrepreneur, Gitte feels like a “new me”. She wants to grow with Studio Nief—not to get bigger, but to be able to do her work her way, and in doing so, help as many people as possible with their housing challenges.
“I want to create a life for myself that energizes me, instead of only giving my energy to others.”
And she also wants to show her children that “you can become and achieve anything you want, as long as you believe in it.”
Lessons from her journey
Hesitating too long and wanting to think everything through in detail: that’s what held her back.
What would she do differently today?
Draw up a clear step-by-step plan and then follow it to the letter. But thanks to the support of my business coach, I’ve been really well guided toward the vision I have now.
Her biggest game-changer? The realization that she didn’t have to do everything on her own. “By working with the right people and asking for help, everything became so much easier. And I grew faster.”
Her advice to other starting entrepreneurs?
“Dare to stay true to your own vision. There will always be people with opinions, but it’s your path.”
Dexxter as a partner along the way
Since March, Gitte has been doing her accounting with Dexxter.
“Dexxter has really helped me get a handle on my bookkeeping step by step,” she says. “What’s allowed? What isn’t? Thanks to their support, I feel much more confident in my business.”
What appeals to her most is how well everything is integrated. The app runs smoothly, bank data is automatically synced, and there are no loose ends. The guidance feels personal, as if someone were sitting right next to you saying, “Here, this is how to do it.” Not patronizing, but reassuring. The tips come at just the right moment, and the overview brings peace of mind.
