Entering own use?

Vraag

I run a webshop selling handmade candles. Recently, we created two candles for ourselves (think glass, soy wax and fragrance oil). We do this as testers, to test whether the candle actually burns with the material and oil content we want to use. It goes without saying that we can no longer use these glasses to sell afterwards. Do I create a sales invoice for myself? Is there an entry for this in the accounts? I would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

Well... Either you enter it immediately upon purchases with a limited professional use percentage, but often you may not know this in advance? If so, you can solve it directly and indicate private use.But actually, is that private use? You say yourself that you are doing it as a test to see if everything is going good and everything is working. I would not enter that as private, but just leave it in your expenses. Okay, there is no sale on the other side stated, but that's just part of it, right? Not everything is always sold, sometimes because it needs to be tested first, I think.

Hi, thanks for your answer. That's how I've been doing it so far. Just include it in the expenses. I wasn't sure if that was okay.

You can include that in the expenses, you used those glasses for professional purposes. If you make purchases of larger quantities for professional use but still want to use them privately (e.g. because you get a good discount from your supplier), it is advisable to resell them with yourself as the customer (without a VAT number), which is not a special item and is completely okay. You are expected to make a (minimal) profit on this.

Other option is to add the invoice to Dexxter but set the professional percentages to 0%. This is then a "rejected" expense that is not included in your returns, but you do have proof if you are asked during an audit where those glasses went.(Otherwise, they may assume that you sold them on the black market.)

Thank you! Very helpful explanation.
