Daily allowance

Vraag

Hi,
I hear that you can pay yourself a ‘daily allowance’. However, when I look for more information here, I only find references to ‘companies’.
We are all sole traders here, so I don’t think this applies, is that correct?
Or can I pay myself, for example, 15 working days x 10 euro = 150 euro per month and claim this as an expense?

I already claim petrol costs and other car expenses, of course, as well as when I buy something to eat in the afternoon (which doesn’t happen very often).

Kind regards,
self-employed in secondary occupation

Hello,

This does indeed only apply to companies. As a sole proprietor, you cannot pay yourself a salary. This is because your sole proprietor coincides with your own person, whereas a company is a separate legal entity.

As a sole proprietor, your net profit is essentially your salary. For more information, be sure to read this article from our learning center: https://dexxter.be/kan-een-eenmanszaak-loon-uitkeren/?utm_source=learning_center&utm_medium=referral

You can easily find this article by searching for 'salary' in the learning center.

I see that you mention bringing in lunch that you take out. Please note that when you take out food for yourself and your customers or business relations (a sandwich for yourself is not a business expense and should therefore not be included in your accounts), this may not be recorded as restaurant costs. The 'restaurant costs' cost category can only be used when you eat your meal on the premises. When you take something away, you must use the 'reception costs' cost category. These are capped at a lower amount than restaurant costs, but there is nothing you can do about that, as it is laid down by law.
