Costs for starting a business (Camera)

Question

Hello everyone! This is my first question here. On 1 October, I will be starting back as a secondary occupation entrepreneur (photographer/artist). Now I want to buy a camera back and I’ve seen that the model I want has a nice cashback, so I’d like to go and get it. Is it worth doing this now or will I run into problems declaring it? I know that costs up to 3 months before the date are accepted, but of course I want to be sure. It’s an investment of 1800 euros, so it has to be depreciated.

Hello, we'll pick up from Dexxter so you might still be in time for the cashback :)

But yes, you can definitely buy that camera now!

Practical tip: Have your invoice state 'Company number pending'. This makes it immediately clear that you have purchased something for your business before it has started.

For vAT: If you become subject to VAT (I cannot tell at this point), you can recover the vAT on these purchases in your first vAT declaration, provided your invoice is correct and states "Company number pending".

Thank you!!! I'm starting with vAT exemption. But I'm very happy with this new news! Camera shop, here I come!
