Test bicycles and other test items

Question

I run a bicycle repair services. However, I also offer bicycles from a few brands to order. I am now toying with the idea of purchasing some bicycles so that they can be tested by customers. How do I enter these in the accounts? As an investment and over how many years? I would also like to provide some helmets or other items for testing. Do I enter these as general expenses?

You can indeed record test items, but not as trade goods, I think. Otherwise, you would have to keep them in your inventory permanently, which I don't think is quite right. You could create a new cost category called 'test equipment' under the main category 'general expenses'.
