Question

If I have expenses, don’t I only get the VAT back?

When I enter everything now, it always asks for the price incl. VAT.

How does the website know how much the VAT is? Because now I am supposedly 1200 euros in the red (which I should get back).

When entering a purchase invoice, you always enter the amount excluding VAT and the amount including VAT from a Belgian invoice.

At the end of the wizard, you will see an overview and the confirmation question will state how much VAT was on the invoice and at what rate.

In your VAT summary under the heading 'Declarations', you will therefore only find the recoverable VAT.However, having a negative VAT balance is an exceptional situation. This means you are in the start-up phase or have just made investments. Your income will ensure that you always have net VAT to pay.

Perhaps you mean the negative amount on your Dashboard? That is where you can see your result. These are income & expenses, excluding VAT.

Dear WM,

From your question, I gather that you are registered as VAT-exempted or not subject to VAT. In that case, you cannot recover VAT. To be sure, check your settings > general under vAT to see what statute you have chosen and, if in doubt, question your social insurance fund or your business desk what your exact vAT type is.

If you have any further questions, please contact Support. They can review your file and provide more personalised advice.
