Purchases of light goods vehicle

Question

Dear Sir/Madam,

I recently purchased a light goods vehicle in the Dutch (Dodge Ram pick-up) for my secondary occupation. I did not have to pay VAT. (With a few exceptions).

Purchase details:

  • Purchase price: €134,500 excluding vAT

  • €25,000 from my private funds as a down payment.

  • €110,000 via an investment loan from the bank. (over 5 years)

  • How? And what is the best way to claim this? Is it 100% or 75% deductible? I can only find 75% deductible in the cost category for light goods vehicles, but at the garage they say that the purchases of a light goods vehicle and the vAT would be 100% deductible….?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,

    Brecht

The way I see it, the car will have to be registered and vAT will have to be paid on it, so I think you can claim 100%.

    Hi Brecht,

If you have a sole proprietor, how were you able to register it?

According to my insurer, this is no longer possible?

Hello, I simply purchased it through my sole proprietor. I haven't had any problems with here... This was in April 2024. It may be that the regulations are different now, but I think (not 100% sure) that this is still possible as light freight...
