Question

I received a fine for submitting my customer lists too late. How should I record this? Which type of company should I select?

You don't have to specify the type of company, do you? Just go to Dexxter under returns to the customer list. Each step is explained there. The deadline is always the same as for the vAT declaration :)

Regards, Gitta

Thank you, but I mean the fine itself that I received from the government for being late. So it's a fine from the government finance services. But I can't find how to enter this fine.

Gosh, i don't really know if that's a professional expense. Maybe it is. Perhaps you could question Dexxter support. I'm curious to find out!

Best regards

I looked it up myself and found that fines cannot be entered as expenses, neither private person fines nor fines related to self-employed activities. That's a general principle. You are not required to break the law, so if you are punished for doing so (e.g. with fines), the costs are not deductible for vAT purposes (otherwise the fine would cancel itself out) and also not as a professional expense on your tax return. You can enter them in Dexxter, but they will automatically be rejected as expenses. This will be taken into account in your year-end closing: the cost is included in the profit/loss before tax, but is not included in the taxable profit/loss (and you therefore pay tax on that amount).
