Question

Dear Sir/Madam,

I also use my car partly for my business. I was wondering what percentage of these costs (such as maintenance and insurance) I can claim. Is this based on a specific formula (based on emissions) or do I just claim a percentage based on my professional use percentage?

Thanks in advance!

I have the same question! A month ago, I bought a van that I use 70% for professional purposes (5 days out of 7), so I set everything to 70% in Dexxter. However, I also came across a formula based on emissions... Now I'm stuck on this issue too

Yes, but be careful because that formula based on emissions does not apply to light goods vehicles.

I suspect that your van is a light goods vehicle, so you should just look at the professional use, i.e. the percentage you mentioned. That is the big advantage (for now, at least) if I understand correctly for light goods in a sole proprietor. The emissions formula does not apply in this case.

That's right, it's light goods! Thank you for your answer, that's reassuring To be on the safe side, I'll wait for a reply from Dexxter...

Hello,

Giel from the Dexxter team here!

It is indeed correct that for light goods vehicles, you only need to consider professional use. There are no other restrictions for light goods vehicles, such as CO² emissions, because that only applies to passenger cars.

Hello,

What exactly is the situation for ordinary passenger cars? (initial question :-)

So first you have to take into account the % CO² emissions and then calculate the % professional use, which then determines the final deduction? For diesel/petrol cars, is the deduction fairly minimal these days?
