Booking a donation to good cause?

Question

Hello,

I support a good cause with my sole proprietor (4 x 12.5 euro last quarter), now I’m wondering how to enter this. I have not received any invoices for here, only transfer receipts from the bank. So I only have the name of the charity here (“Stg Save The Children NL”), but no vAT number. Incidentally, I cannot find a cost category for here.

How should I handle this? Thank you in advance!

I don't think you can record a donation as a sole proprietor. You can include private person donations over €40 in your taxes, but not in the accounts of your business. I myself have donated a considerable amount to animal shelters, but after further research, I found that as a sole proprietor, you cannot include this as an expense. (I'm not an accountant myself, so I'm not 100% sure.)

That's right, KDG,

Donations to charities are never professional expenses. So you just do that privately. From donations over €40, you will receive a tax certificate that you can include in your personal income tax return (part 1).

Best regards, from Gitta
