For a long time, service vouchers came with a nice tax benefit, but since 2025 that depends heavily on the region where you live. In this article, you’ll find out what a service voucher costs today and which benefit is still left.
The cost of a service voucher 💰
The price of a service voucher differs per region. In Flanders, you pay 10 euros per voucher for the first 400 vouchers per year, and 11 euros for vouchers 401 up to and including 500. More than 500 vouchers per person per year is only possible for certain target groups.
In Brussels, you have paid 11.40 euros per voucher for the first 300 vouchers since 1 January 2026, and 14 euros for the next 200. In Wallonia, you have paid 10.60 euros per voucher for the first 175 vouchers since 1 July 2026, 11.60 euros for vouchers 176 to 400 and 12.60 euros for vouchers 401 to 500. What is changing in Flanders?
On 9 October 2026, the Flemish government approved in principle a reform of service vouchers that takes effect on 1 January 2027. The price per voucher will go up, the number of vouchers per household will be revised and a voucher will stay valid for a shorter period. The new prices are not final yet, because the decree still has to go through the SERV and the Council of State. We will update this article as soon as the amounts are official.
The vouchers you buy now will also be valid for a shorter time. According to the Flemish government’s decision, service vouchers bought in Flanders between 1 October and 31 December 2026 can be used until 31 December 2026. For vouchers bought from 1 January 2027, the validity becomes 9 months instead of 12. So this autumn, don’t buy more vouchers than you still need this year. If a voucher does expire, Flanders refunds it automatically.
Tip

Tip from an accountant
Service vouchers can’t be claimed as a business expense for your sole proprietorship, even if you work from home. Find out why in this article.
Is there still a tax benefit? 📉
That depends on where you live. Flanders abolished the tax reduction for service vouchers bought from 1 January 2025, and Brussels did the same for vouchers bought from 1 January 2026.
In Wallonia, you still get a tax reduction: 0.90 euros per voucher, for up to 150 vouchers per person per year. That comes to a maximum of 135 euros per person.
Are you married or legally cohabiting? Then each of you can get the reduction, provided you each buy your vouchers through your own user account.
Which rules apply to you depends on where you live on 1 January of the year after the purchase. If you buy service vouchers in 2026 and move during the year, your address on 1 January 2027 is what counts.
If you’re entitled to the reduction, you’ll receive a tax certificate every year with an overview of your purchases.📋
Did you know?
Service vouchers you bought in Brussels in 2025 still qualify for a tax reduction in your 2026 tax return (income year 2025, tax year 2026).
