The government makes a division between a simple and complex tax return, which in turn has an impact on the corresponding deadlines.
A complex personal income tax return
Your tax return is automatically stamped ‘complex’ by the government if it contains one or more of these categories:
- an independent activity via a sole proprietor
- remuneration as manager of a company
- remuneration to assisting spouses
- foreign professional income
So if any of the above apply to you, you will automatically have a complex tax return. Fortunately, with Dexxter , it remains a piece of cake for all sole proprietors.
Now why is this important?
Because of this, the deadline until when you can file the return for the income year 2023. automatically moves up to 16 October 2024.
You can perfectly file the tax return yourself or use an accountant, but (unlike before) this no longer makes any difference to the filing deadline.
A simple personal income tax return
If the return is not complex, it is called ‘simple’.
So if you do not belong to the categories listed above for a complex tax return, this also has an impact on the filing deadline. Simple declarations for the 2023 income yearhave time till 15 July 2024 to file the personal income tax return.
Again, it makes no difference whether you file your tax return yourself or use an accounting firm, the deadline for a simple declaration is always 15 July 2024.
