Can you claim expenses for which the invoices are not stated in your own name?

Question

Before I started as a self-employed student, I purchased items such as a laptop, but the invoice is in my mum’s name (because she paid for it for me at the time). Can I still claim this cost as an expense?

In that context, I think it is possible, because it is your mum. I think there is some tolerance there :)

But of course you will have to repay your mum now, I think, because paying for something is a basic condition for claiming it.
