rent an apartment

Question

Dear Sir/Madam, I am going to rent an apartment where I will also carry out my secondary occupation. Can I claim part of the rent as an expense if it is not a commercial property? And how do I calculate that? And what about the costs? Everything based on surface area? Or also on the number of days of use?

Thank you for your response,

Maartje

I would first check whether it is allowed, because my tenancy agreement states, for example, that professional use is not permitted. But professional use basically just means that you are not allowed to include the rent in your accounts. So you are allowed to work there, you just can't include the rent.

If you want to include it (and are allowed to), I would indeed look at the surface area. Calculate a percentage based on that.
