Question

I am a landscape architect with ‘independent student’ statute because I am still doing a postgraduate course. A few days ago, I went to Germany to visit two large landscape parks, make an inventory of trees and study information about the parks’ designs.

I stayed there for one night.

Can I claim this as training expenses? One night in a hotel, train fare and restaurant?

Kind regards

Hello,

Training costs are really intended for recognised training courses. From what I read, these are more like travel expenses. The good news is that if they are work-related, you can include them in your accounts. You can read about the conditions they must meet in this article from the learning center: https://dexxter.be/sole-proprietor-zakenreis-reiskosten-aftrekbaar/

You can simply record restaurant costs as restaurant costs, even if your restaurant visit was abroad.

Kind regards,
