Eco vouchers, also known as ecocheques, are becoming increasingly popular as an fringe benefit that employers give to their employees. They are an additional allowance exempted from taxes, hence their popularity.
Eco vouchers for the self-employed?
Attention, if you are self-employed with a sole proprietorship, eco vouchers are unfortunately not possible for you personally!
It is not allowed by law on the one hand, but on the other hand it would not give you any financial or tax benefit either. Because ecocheques are 0% deductible in accounting, there may still be a tax benefit for corporations, but not for sole proprietorships.
Indeed, there will rather be a financial disadvantage if you order eco vouchers for yourself in a sole proprietorship, because the party issuing these eco vouchers will obviously charge a small cost. All this while, in a sole proprietorship, there is no tax benefit in purchasing eco vouchers for yourself.

Eco vouchers for sole proprietorship employees?
This is possible!
Attention, ecocheques are always 0% deductible in your accounting. In other words, the ecocheques you give to your employee(s) do not count as a deductible professional expense.
The advantage for your employee(s) is that they do not have to pay taxes on the ecocheques received.
Conclusion:
- Do you have a corporation? Then eco vouchers can be used for both the employees of the corporation and the directors or executives.
- Do you have a sole proprietorship? Then eco vouchers are possible for the employees of the sole proprietorship, but not for the self-employed person.
