Suppose I buy a commercial good for 20 euros + transport costs of 20 euros.
I put the commercial good in my shop at 50 euros because I want to make a profit of 10 euros.
Do I book that purchase as a 40 euro purchase of trade goods, or do I have to split it up and book 20 euros as transport costs for trade goods? That makes a big difference. Because for me, that trade goods are now actually worth 40 euros and that 40 euros should be included in inventory so that I can carry it over to next year, but from another view, if I put that 20 euros into transport, it counts in full for this year and reduces the overall profit and is not included in inventory? It depends on what one wants in terms of limiting profit, or is it required to make this split and include it in inventory, i.e. not include the transport costs in the value of the trade goods? In this case, does one have to upload the same invoice twice?
And what about other costs related to purchases of trade goods? Suppose you buy a work of art on an auction site, which also incurs auction costs. Do you then have to split the same invoice into three costs and upload the invoice three times? Purchases + transport + auction house commission…?
