Splitting invoices from goods and investment

Question

As an electrician, I have both sockets and electric hand tools on the same invoice.

I assume the sockets fall under goods and the tools under investment.

Can I split this invoice or should I not record hand tools (less than £500) as an investment?

In any case, you must split your invoice and enter it twice.

The sockets are merchandise and must be recorded under that heading.

The tools are an expense (whether or not they are an investment).

There are already several open questions asking how to split an incoming invoice across multiple items. At present, this can only be done by duplicating the invoice. Thanks for your help! Does this mean that I split the invoice myself (upload it twice but adjust the total amount when entering it per category) or should I question the supplier to do this?

Yes, you do need to upload the invoice a second time in Dexxter and adjust the amounts. It is best to also mention in the comments field why you are splitting it, so that you will still know this in case of a check within a year.

Great, thanks for the info and have a nice day!
