rent commercial premises

Question

Dear

The rent for commercial premises is a recurring monthly expense that comes back.

Can you enter this as a recurring expense with a frequency so that you don’t have to enter it every month?

If so, will it then be included in the expenses automatically every month?

Kind regards,

Chantal

Hello Chantal,

It is not possible to enter automatic recurring expenses. For example, you could set up the rent for your commercial property as a monthly recurring expense.

What you could do is enter the full amount in one go, provided that there is no vAT on the rental (which is likely to be the case). If you do not need to recover vAT, you could just as well add one expense on 31/12/2022 (or whenever) in which you add the rental contract as a document and then enter 12 times the monthly rent as one expense. As long as it is in your accounts and it is still clear afterwards which document/distribution is behind it. Suggestion, of course :) Dexxter will then bundle all the expenses in December, for example, because the date of issue is 31/12/2022. This is perfectly fine from an accounting point of view (if there is no vAT on it), but it does have an impact on the summary.
