Question

Is Peppol also required for small businesses exempted from VAT?

I attended a webinar on Doccle about this and you only need to register with Peppol (it's free) to receive any invoices. As a small business, you don't need to send invoices via Peppol, as I acknowledge.

Thank you for this information.

Kind regards

Rudy

Unizo website:Required e-invoicing only applies if all three parameters are met:

  • The entity issuing the invoice is a subject to VAT entity based in Belgium

  • (or a member of a VAT unit). This also includes entrepreneurs who use the exemption scheme for small businesses. The main exception is entrepreneurs who are completely exempted from VAT because they only perform activities listed in Article 44 of the vAT Code.

  • The entity that has been received on the invoice must provide its Belgian vAT number for that transaction.  Required e-invoicing does not apply, for example, if the recipient provides a foreign vAT number.

  • The invoice is issued for a transaction located in Belgium.
