When I have paid over social security contributions, I know that I can claim them back. Can I just leave them there and will this ‘pot’ be used the next time I have to pay social security contributions?

I receive the adjustment every year. Then I either get the excess refunded, or I have to pay what I still owe. But what you mean, as exists with vAT administration, does not exist with social security contributions, in my opinion.
Hoi DC, thanks for the feedback. Does that adjustment happen automatic for you?
You're welcome ;)
I just receive an invoice from (if I have to pay) or a credit note (if I get a refund). Of course, i don't know if that's the case everywhere. Perhaps you should check with your social secretariat to find out how it works for you.
You really should try it out for yourself. Even if you don’t have a company number yet, you can already go ahead.
