That is, of course, completely absurd. If this so-called trade union for the self-employed really existed, who would it protect you as a self-employed person from? After all, you do not have an employer (you are your own boss) and the interests of the self-employed are defended in the Group of 10, the SERV, MinaRaad Vlaanderen and advisory councils by UNIZO.
I also received that letter when I started as a self-employed person in a secondary occupation and received several more letters from such companies. After using chatgpt for a while, I realised that it was not required and so I just ignored it!
You really should try it out for yourself. Even if you don’t have a company number yet, you can already go ahead.
