Question

I made a purchase in June and I want to write it off over 3 years. Do I have to set the fiscal date to 1 January 2024 so that I can write off the same amount each year on a straight-line basis? I suspect this is allowed since I have a sole proprietor?

Absolutely, you can do that! If you search for 'start date' in the learning center, you will find an interesting article about this. But effectively, in a sole proprietor, you can set the start date for depreciation at the start of the year. This is an exception that only applies in the case of a sole proprietor.
