Claiming expenses based on residence abroad

Vraag

I was asked a question that I don’t know the answer to myself.

Perhaps you have an answer here.

“If you have a home in the Netherlands and your business address is in Belgium, can you claim water and electricity costs from your address in the Netherlands?”

Kind regards,

I don't think it would be a problem to claim those costs if you have a professional reason for doing so.

Why would you claim costs for that property in the Netherlands? Do you have a warehouse there? Do you work there regularly? Do your company's offices have offices there?

Where your costs are located plays little role. Professional use (and justification thereof) is important.

The person lives in the Netherlands. The vAT number is registered to an address in Belgium.

I would think there is no problem claiming the costs. It seems to me to be the same as if you were to order a keyboard (or whatever) tomorrow from a Dutch webshop; you can also claim those costs. It makes no difference that it comes from a Dutch webshop. The same applies to the costs of electricity, water, gas, etc. for a property in the Netherlands, I would think.

I tend to agree with 'PH'. It doesn't seem to make any difference, as long as you can prove that it is used for your profession.
