Creating an invoice after closing the financial year

Question

Hello,

I mainly provide services to private individuals. I record the income as daily receipts. My last quarter of 2024 has been closed and now a customer has asked me to create an invoice for a service provided in June that I recorded as a daily receipt.

How can I do this?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Sofie

Hello Sofie,

I would reopen quarter 4 back. Presumably, you haven't submitted your vAT declaration for that quarter yet? :)

Then add credit note for that daily receipt in quarter 4. This is purely to get it processed in Dexxter; the customer for that credit note can be a private person with the name 'Daily receipt'. For the time being, you cannot enter negative daily receipts in Dexxter, hence the credit note.

This reduces the accounting impact of that earlier daily receipt to 0 euro.

Then create a sales invoice, which you can do on the day of the daily receipt, but that period will of course be closed. In Dexxter, you can then select 'enter document on this day', uncheck that box and put the sales invoice in quarter 4 for tax purposes. That should do the trick.

Hello,

Thank you for the advice, but I closed everything on 2/1, including the vAT declaration for quarter 4... I have an additional question regarding your answer. In the past, I have had a few instances where a customer requested an invoice late. Because the quarter (or financial year) had not yet been closed at that time, I simply deleted the daily receipts and then entered the amounts as invoices. From what you write, I now understand that these amounts are not deducted from the daily receipts and that I have to reverse them via a credit note?
