On 20 February 2025, I took a taxi from Antwerp to Lier (arrival at 19:47) because I had to carry a heavy printer and it was rather difficult to do so by train. I paid the cab driver by bank card. I received a digital receipt from SumUp. It states the name of the taxi company (it was an independent cab driver) but does not state his vAT number. It also does not state a full address (only the name of the taxi company, the postal code and a mobile phone number). In order not to discredit the company unnecessarily, I will not mention the name here. It also states a payment receipt number: MCEXKZHP-1090. The details are: Description: 1 x Custom amount, VAT -, Amount: €97.70 Total: €97.70
vAT%: none
There was a link to the payment receipt, which states the same information but with receipt number: S20250001390, but no vAT number either.
When I search for the taxi company via the CBE, I do not find it back.
Have I been scammed by a fraudster (someone who carries out business activities without being registered with the CBE)? I want to enter this as an invoice, but without a CBE number, that is not possible.
The alternative is to enter it as a purchase from a private person, but should I enter it as a receipt or as an invoice?
