Question

When making purchases of light goods, can you enter the total loan amount or the monthly repayment?

Given that it is a light goods vehicle and therefore probably has a slightly higher purchase price, you will end up with an investment. Be sure to check out the learning center if you want to know more about investments.

Your loan from the bank does not really make any difference in this respect. It is just a way of paying, which does not actually change the purchase you have made.

Investment with depreciations: The purchase is not immediately included in your costs, but is spread over several years. You still paid the full amount at the time of purchase, but the costs are spread over the depreciation period.

Loan: you do not have to include the monthly repayments to the bank in your accounts. This is because they are already included in your costs, via the purchases that are recorded as investments. The loan is therefore really just a means of payment and has no impact on the accounts of a sole proprietor.

With one exception: the interest :) This is an additional cost that you incur because you have taken out a loan. You can include this interest as an additional cost on a monthly (or yearly, if that is easier) basis.

You can do this using the repayment table or even your bank statement, where you make the refund to the bank. You take that bank statement and then enter the amount of interest as an interest expense each time.
