As an entrepreneur, you’re probably already familiar with Peppol: the network that lets you exchange invoices securely and automatically with other businesses and government bodies. Super convenient. But what if the software you’re registered with on Peppol no longer fits your needs?
We’ll explain step by step how to deregister from your current Peppol Access Point and switch to a new Peppol provider.
Why switch to a new Peppol provider?
You might recognize this: you started with a simple invoicing tool that offered a free Peppol connection. Perfect at the beginning. But your needs have evolved. Now you want more than just sending invoices – you want to manage your full accounting, create quotations, and keep everything in one place. That’s where an all-in-one solution like Dexxter becomes a logical next step.
The most common reasons for switching:
- More functionalities: From invoicing to full accounting.
- Better support: A provider that actually helps when you have questions.
- Lower costs: Another provider may be more affordable.
- Ease of use: Your current tool is too complex or inconvenient.
Switching without stress: a simple step-by-step plan
Step 1: Choose your new Peppol Access Point
First, choose a new Peppol provider that better matches your current needs. In most cases, this isn’t a standalone Peppol service but part of your new accounting or invoicing software (for example, Dexxter). Create an account there – nothing changes yet in your existing setup.
Step 2: Deactivate the old Peppol connection
Next, make sure your old Peppol connection is properly deactivated. This avoids invoices ending up in two places or causing confusion. How you do this depends on your current software. Sometimes you can deactivate Peppol yourself in the app; other times you’ll need to contact support.
It’s smart to first check where you’re currently registered, for example via peppolcheck.be. That way you’re sure all messages will flow through your new route.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is a Peppol Access Point?
Think of it as the gatekeeper to the Peppol network. It’s the service provider that connects you so you can exchange digital documents securely. Like an internet provider, but for Peppol.
Can you deregister only for sending or receiving?
You can send e-invoices via multiple software tools, but you can only receive them in one tool. If you’re already registered for receiving via one provider, you can still configure another tool to only send.
Do you need to deregister if you stop your business?
Yes. Peppol deregistration is not automatic when a business is legally closed. You must explicitly deregister via your Access Point.
Do I need to inform customers or suppliers about the switch?
No. Your Peppol ID stays the same. The network automatically routes messages to your new Access Point.
How long does a switch take?
Usually just a few hours. Once the new Access Point is active, all new documents arrive there.
Are there costs involved?
The technical transfer of your Peppol ID is free. You only pay for the subscription with your new software provider, where Peppol is often included.
