VAT exempted from VAT as a social interpreter

Question

I have just started the 30-day trial period and, as a starting entrepreneur from a sole proprietor, I am still finding my way in this world.

Thank you for the tip to check my vAT exemption on intervat. After checking this, I see that Acerta has exempted me from VAT for the wrong reasons, namely as a small business with profits below 25,000 euros on an annual basis. However, this must be corrected to exempted from VAT on the basis of Article 44 of the vAT Code because of my activities as a social interpreter, as I had indicated to Acerta.

I have emailed them asking them to correct this. My doubt and question to you is: if this is updated, will I need to obtain a new company number? Will they tell me that I have to pay the 92 euro for the change, even though it is not my fault?

Kind regards,

Carlos.

No new company number, definitely not! Every company (and therefore company number) can always adjust/edit its activities, so it would seem unfair to me if you needed a new company number for that.

Hopefully they won't charge you the 92 euros ;) That wouldn't be fair.

Let me know what they did if you want, I'm in pretty much the same situation :)

Good afternoon everyone,

Thanks for the answer.

Acerta will correct this without charging anything. They had misunderstood me and my company number will remain the same.

That is why social interpreters must always emphasise the social aspect of interpreting/translating and clearly indicate that they are exempted from VAT on the basis of Article 44.

The misunderstanding also arose because, as an interpreter in my secondary occupation, I am also likely to be exempt from vAT as I earn less than 25,000 euros per year.

Therefore, colleagues, always clearly indicate Article 44 to your social insurance fund.

Best regards.
